Charleston Jazz Academy’s Jazz Combo Camp is our signature summer program. The camp is designed to provide a fun and educational experience for young musicians who are interested in exploring the world of jazz music. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as improvisation, rhythm, music theory, and ensemble playing. Students will have the opportunity to work with experienced jazz musicians and educators who will help them develop their skills and build their confidence as performers. June 1st – 5th ‘Camp Coltrane’: Camp Coltrane will be the music of iconic saxophonist, John Coltrane in celebration 100 years since his birth. This week of camp also features masterclasses with world renowned jazz musicians, guitarist Chico Pinheiro and percussionist Pedrito Martinez! Made possible in partnership with Spoleto Festival USA.

June 22 – 26 2026 ‘It’s Electric’: It’s Electric will dive into the world of Fusion and the initial introduction of electric instruments into jazz music.

Camp Tekoa is a summer camp and retreat center located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, near Hendersonville. Tekoa is affiliated with the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church. Tekoa offers a wide variety of summer resident and day camps for boys and girls. These include Elementary Day Camp; overnight Resident camps; and Adventure Camps,  each of which cater to elementary, middle school, and high school students.  Tekoa also has a wide variety of school year programming, special events, and retreats. Compass Camp:

Full-time Woodberry faculty members – innovation and exciting teachers – will lead participants through experience that connect them to nature, to their peers, and to the wider world.  Our counselors are exclusively young Woodberry alumni and high-performing seniors known for their deep engagement and leadership ability.  These young men of character will guide campers through their time at Compass, showing them what it means to lead with empathy and honor.

Your son will: Learn about watershed ecosystems while fly-fishing, work with a team to create solutions to epic design problems, develop his approach to leadership and decide what kind of impact he’d like to have on his community back home.  Woodberry Compass asks middle school boys to dive deep into new challenges on our picturesque 1,200-acre Virginia campus.

Sports Camp:

Woodberry Forest Sports Camp offers sports-loving boys a three-week experience in which all are able to learn and compete in a variety of team and individual sports regardless of their level of play or ability. Campers develop in a friendly, supportive atmosphere and find encouragement from coaches and counselors who are committed to teaching them not only the skills of the game but the spirit too. Daily competitions highlight the importance of effort and sportsmanship, and individual instruction ensures each player’s athletic as well as personal growth. This camp is for the boy who wants to develop his character and play sports all day long!

Competitive Team Sports: Basketball, Dodgeball, Floor Hockey, Football, Handball, Lacrosse, Rugby, Soccer, Softball, Tchoukball, Ultimate Frisbee.

 The Woodberry Forest School Football Camp is a great opportunity for boys that love playing football or are interested in improving their skill levels as well as knowledge of the game. The boys will have an opportunity to be coached and learn from our school’s football coaching staff with NFL, college and high school playing and coaching experience. The boys will also have access to Woodberry’s facilities including grass and turf fields, indoor track and municipal training facility, as well as outdoor pool for cooling off on a hot afternoon.

Our goal as a coaching staff during this camp is to coach and teach the boys football techniques and schemes, as well as facilitate the building of friendships to last for years to come between our campers. Go Tigers!
