Tell us about your family

My family is made up of four wild, fun-loving people: my husband Brian, our two energetic boys, Brian and Johnny, and me. There is never a dull or quiet moment in our house—someone is always laughing, talking, or running out the door to the next game or activity. My husband wakes up every morning whistling and full of energy, already dreaming up our next big adventure. We love to travel together, making memories in new places and embracing the chaos that comes with being such an active family. Sports are a big part of our lives right now, but no matter how busy things get, family always comes first for us!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I met my husband on a Carnival Cruise—he was singing his portfolio number “8675,” and I finished his sentence with “309!” We’ve been together ever since, married for 13 years and blessed with two amazing kids!

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Charleston?

One of my favorite things about raising kids in Charleston is the weather. The climate makes it possible to be outside all year long, which is a huge gift when you’re raising two energetic boys like ours. Whether it’s a sunny winter day perfect for a bike ride or a breezy summer afternoon at the beach, we’re constantly taking advantage of what the Lowcountry has to offer. It’s the kind of place where adventure is just a short drive away, and we love soaking it all in together as a family.

Tell us about your custom hat business, B’s Trucker Hats, and when & why you decided to start this business!

There’s no better job than being a mom, even though it means giving up a lot along the way. Before motherhood, I was a teacher, and after becoming a mom, I stayed home for a while and started planning community/school events. Somewhere along the way, I found myself constantly living in a trucker hat—which became part of my everyday mom uniform. Then one day, at a lacrosse tournament, I came across a custom hat bar and thought, “I could totally do this—and make it fun!” That simple idea sparked something new and exciting, blending my creativity, love for people, and mom life all into one.

What is your favorite part about creating this type of business for your customers?

I LOVE people—being with them, connecting them, and building community lights me up. That’s what makes my work so fulfilling. Through my business, I get to do all the things I’m passionate about: bring people together, spark joy, and create fun, meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact. It’s more than just a job—it’s a reflection of who I am and what I value most.

What is the motto behind the “B” in your business?

Behind the B is more than just a name! It’s a reflection of who I am and where I come from. Growing up in Indiana, I was known as “little B,” with my brother as “big B.” My maiden name is Barisano, and the letter B has always been part of my identity. Now, I’m the queen B of my own family, proudly carrying on the spirit of my mom, who was the ultimate worker B-something I hope to live up to every day. In our world, everything seems to circle back to the letter B—every name, every connection, every part of our story. Behind the B is about family, legacy, hustle, and heart—all the things that shape who I am and what I do.

Tell us about the different designs you offer and more about your custom hat bar!

I bring the mobile hat bar to you! Tell me a little about your event and what you envision, and I’ll bring that and more! I press custom hats on-site, and I also create custom embroidered or printed patches, allowing me to put anything on a hat for your next big event. Whether it’s a family reunion, bachelorette party, birthday, or any special occasion, I can design custom hats just for you. Plus, I offer embroidered hats for an extra personalized touch!

What are you some of your favorite hats that you’ve designed? Or do you just love them all!

Designing the embroidered Tillman hats was a special experience for me, especially since it supported the amazing Tillman Foundation. I also love working on custom patches because it allows me to connect one-on-one with customers, learning about their stories and sometimes sparking new conversations or reconnections. The parties and pop-ups remind me of my teaching days, bringing a sense of joy and connection back to my work.

Tell us more about your work/life balance within motherhood.

It’s definitely a balancing act. I’m known for not saying “no” often, so I remind myself that saying “yes” to one thing means saying “no” to something else. I prioritize not missing my kids’ events on the weekends, so I try to plan my work during the week when they’re busy with sports and other activities. Overall, I feel good about how I’ve been balancing everything but it is a balance for sure!

Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?

My mom is the person I still call and text throughout the day, no matter how many miles separate us. She’s always been my constant, and I’ve inherited that drive from her. Growing up, her children were her top priority—she always put us first, showing us what true love and selflessness look like. She’s one of the strongest and most courageous people I know, and no matter what life throws her way, she just keeps going.

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?

One thing I wish someone had told me about motherhood is how truly overwhelming the love can be. It’s not just about the joy and excitement of having kids—it’s the constant worry, the deep emotional rollercoaster, and the way your heart feels like it could burst with love (and sometimes with stress). You think you’re prepared, but nothing can fully prepare you for how intense and all-encompassing motherhood really is.

What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?

GIVE YOURSELF GRACE! There will be days when you feel like you’re crushing it, and other days when you feel like you’re barely holding it together. That’s all part of the journey. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Trust your instincts, but also don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. It’s okay to not have everything figured out, and it’s okay to take a moment for yourself.
