Meet Heather Fairbairn, Owner & Founder of Pop Up Parties of Charleston, a carefully curated party experience! Heather has lived in Charleston for the past 18 years – she is an entrepreneur, wife, mom to two magical girls and one dog and one cat. Hosting has always been her passion; to bring together loved ones to create magical moments and lifelong memories. And with the newly acquired business in 2023, Charleston Slumber Party, Heather is very excited to grow her company by offering experiences to not just kids, but tweens, teens, and adults.

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Charleston, SC?
Maryland, right outside of DC. I have been here for 20 years. Oh my gosh!
Tell us about your family
I’m married to a funny and amazing man, Bob. We have two sassy/sweet girls, McKenna 12 and Addison 10. And our dog Milo and Cat Ivan.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I don’t like going to the movies and will pass on the Mac and Cheese.
One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?
How much driving is involved!! Just kidding. I can’t think of anything. It does go by fast though.
What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Charleston?
Our community and beautiful landscape. Our kids have no idea how lucky they are.
Tell us about your business, Pop Up Parties CHS, and when & why you decided to start this business!
We offer different experiences for all ages. From indoor themed slumber parties, to outdoor glamping, boho style picnics, movie nights, popcorn and cotton candy rentals and so much more. I purchased the company a little over a year ago. My daughter had an outdoor glamping party for her 11th birthday and I thought, what a cool idea, that would be a fun business. One night I was scrolling through FB and saw that a similar company was for sale. So I reached out and the rest is history. I haven’t regretted it for one second.
What is your favorite part about owning Pop Up Parties CHS?
I LOVE seeing the smiles on my clients faces. There is nothing better than making people happy

We know you recently purchased Charleston Slumber Party last year…what are your visions for 2024 for your company?
Yes, I purchased it from 2 amazing moms. My vision is to grow the company by offering experiences to not just kids, but tweens, teens, and adults. There will be something for everyone to enhance their next party or event.
Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?
Of course my mom. She is a solid woman with a strong work ethic. As well as my grandmother. She was classy but, also had some grit. And my aunt Jeannie. Always the life of the party, laid back, and fun!
What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?
Don’t be to hard on yourselves. This is new to us too and we are in a continuous state of learning. . I am also a believer of being open with your child. It’s okay to say, “sorry, I m not perfect or I messed up.”
