Meet Caroline McDavid, Founder of Juiced Fuel - Charleston Moms Network

Meet Caroline McDavid, the *real* CEO and mastermind behind Juiced Fuel’s marketing (don’t let Korey fool you). When she’s not running school drop-offs or chasing after the kids, she’s the one making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Balancing mom life and business? She’s got it down to an art form—multitasking is her superpower!  Read more below about Caroline, her favorite thing about raising her family here in Charleston, the idea behind Juiced Fuel with their fun marketing approach, and how her and her husband Korey have kept a successful business running smoothly, all while she balances work and motherhood.

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Charleston, SC?

This question always feels tricky for me because I’m a military brat, so home has been a lot of different places over the years. I’ve lived coast to coast and in a bunch of spots in between, but Charleston is the place that’s always been a constant. My mom’s originally from here, so even when we were stationed elsewhere, Charleston was where we’d come back to. It’s the one place that’s felt like home no matter where else I’ve lived. And now, it’s the place I’ve lived the longest, so it feels more like “home” than anywhere else ever has.

Tell us about your family

I’m a proud mom of two amazing boys. Sawyer, who’s almost 8, is my quiet, thoughtful rule follower with the kindest heart. He’s the one who always tries to do the right thing and looks out for others. Then there’s Patterson, our 4-year-old ball of energy who keeps us all on our toes. He’s hilarious, wild, and has that classic second-child energy—you never quite know what he’s going to do or say next, but he keeps us laughing all the time.

We also have two French bulldogs, Rocky and Apollo, who fit right in with the craziness of our family. Between the boys, the dogs, and everything else, life is always full, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

My husband and I met in Charleston over 12 years ago, and we’ve been married for 10 years now. Charleston is not just where we met and got married—it’s home for us. We both come from big families—he’s the oldest of 6, and I’m the oldest of 4—so our family gatherings are always loud, fun, and full of love. Between our siblings, we’ve got nearly 13 cousins in the mix, and with everyone growing up fast, there’s never a shortage of excitement when we’re all together.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Something that might surprise people about me is that I actually went to school to become a paralegal. I began my career working for a high-net-worth divorce law firm before transitioning to medical malpractice, with a focus on mass tort cases. I was the one behind the scenes handling medical records and client information from those TV commercials that ask, “Have you or a loved one been affected by…?” My legal journey eventually led me to work with a prominent trust attorney here in Charleston, and from there, I shifted into a nonprofit role where I helped give back to the community through scholarship programs, fundraising and event planning.

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Charleston?

My favorite thing about raising a family in Charleston is how weekends on the boat have become a cherished routine for us. We love being out on the water, exploring the coastline and enjoying the beautiful scenery. It’s also wonderful to be close to grandparents and cousins, so our boys grow up surrounded by family and meaningful connections. Plus, Charleston’s amazing food scene and the endless activities available keep us entertained and make every day feel special. It’s the perfect blend of fun, family, and food that makes raising our kids here so rewarding.

Tell us about your business, Juiced Fuel, and when & why you and your husband decided to start this business.

Juiced Fuel is a fuel delivery service designed to simplify the way you get gas. Instead of making a trip to the gas station, we bring the fuel right to your car, whether it’s parked at home, at work, or anywhere else. Our service is all about convenience—saving you time and hassle by make sure you never have to wait in line or deal with the pump again.

The idea started when my husband, Korey, and I were constantly facing the hassle of gas stations, especially with our two young boys. It was always a struggle—getting everyone out of the car, dealing with the heat, and trying to manage everything smoothly.

During the pandemic, we were all spending more time at home, and it became even clearer how much this inconvenience was affecting us. Especially with the newfound germ conscience society we had built. Korey saw an opportunity to solve this problem and create a service that would save time and reduce stress for families like ours. It’s been a rewarding experience to see how this idea has taken off and to help make everyday life a little easier for others.

What makes Juiced Fuel stand out in this market to consumers?

Living in a big boating community here in Charleston, what are some of the perks to having an on-demand fuel delivery servicing in our community? Do you service more cars or boats?

Having on-demand fuel for your boat in the Charleston community offers incredible convenience. Many boat owners store their boats at home on trailers or in storage facilities across town. Instead of the hassle of hooking up your trailer, driving around to find a station with ethanol-free fuel, and sometimes dealing with crowded pumps or stations that don’t carry it, you can skip all that. For those with docks located far from marinas, a fuel run alone can take an hour round-trip. With our service, we save you time by fueling your boat right where it’s stored, so when you’re ready to hit the water, your tank is already full, and you can enjoy more time on the water. We definitely fuel up more cars even though our summer was really busy this year with boats.

Tell us about your subscription for consumers.

No problem—each additional vehicle is just $5. Plus, you’ll always receive the lowest fuel prices within a 3-mile radius of your delivery location, helping you save both time and money.

Juiced Fuel is coming up on your 2yr anniversary – yay!  Looking back, what is something you did as business owners that helped you succeed?

Our success has been built on the foundation of teamwork. Korey and I divide and conquer, focusing on what we each excel at to keep things running smoothly. We balance each other out, both in our skill sets and our perspectives, making us stronger as a team. One of the keys is that we’re each other’s biggest supporters, always cheering one another on, especially when things get tough.

Staying positive through the rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship has been essential. We’ve learned that the only way to move forward is by embracing challenges head-on. (Ignoring the haters) Rather than letting hurdles slow us down, we face them with confidence and trust in our ability to figure things out as we go. There’s no manual for success – sometimes, you just have to dive in, make adjustments on the fly, and learn from the process.

Tell us more about your work/life balance within motherhood.

Balancing work and motherhood has its challenges, but owning my own business gives me the flexibility to make it work. Sometimes that means bringing my kids along for the ride—literally! They love the Juiced Fuel truck, talking about it, and even getting in on the action. They already have that little entrepreneurial spirit and sometimes act as our unofficial salespeople!

Since my kids are in full-time school now, I’m able to be there for drop-offs and pick-ups every day. Working from home makes it easier to shut off the computer and focus on family time when needed, and I can drop anything if there’s an emergency. It’s a bit of a juggling act, but having the flexibility makes all the difference for us.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?

The person who most influenced me to be the mom I am today is, without a doubt, my own mom. She’s the embodiment of selflessness and truly dedicated her entire life to us. With my dad deployed most of the time, she stayed at home and managed everything, giving us an incredible upbringing while holding it all together on her own. What stands out most is how patient, nurturing, and endlessly caring she is.

Her resourcefulness shined through even in the toughest times, and that’s something I carry with me as a mom today. She managed to make life feel magical, even when it wasn’t easy. Now, as I raise my own kids, I constantly think about how she gave us the best of herself, and I strive to do the same—being there and being that steady, nurturing presence in their lives, just like she was for us.

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?

One thing I wish someone had told me about motherhood is how much mental loads moms carry. We’re the keepers of everything—teacher emails, dentist appointments, snack schedules, sports gear, and all the little details that live in our heads. It’s constant planning, and being the default parent is exhausting. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, your kids grow and change, and you’re back to square one. But despite all the chaos, it’s incredibly rewarding. Watching your kids grow, learn, and become their own little people makes every hectic day worth it.

What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Not everything will go according to plan, and that’s okay. Focus on what you can control and let go of the rest. Go with the flow and remember that things will happen when they’re meant to. Kids won’t graduate high school in diapers, so take a deep breath and enjoy the journey. They are only little once. Fed is best, even if it’s nuggets and mac and cheese.
