Tips for Potty Training > as experienced as any mom can be, potty training your little one comes with all kinds of ups and downs and “why isn’t this working” or “what am I missing here”.
Here are some IDEAS x TIPS shared by local moms to help us all get through this mess (pun intended).
- 3 day method | essentially you are homebound for 3 days (there are some great books to help with this process)
- Incentives > sticker charts, m&ms or a small toy/reward at the end of the 3 days or end of the week
- Liquids, liquids and more liquids. Could add in a fun new cup to use too!
- Methods > naked | fun underwear | diaper over underwear (so they still feel the wetness), whichever you learn works best. *We started with underwear (like I did with my older kids), but then we switched to fully naked and he got it so much better this way!
- Potty watch timer > to help keep everyone to track for potty breaks
- Solo cup > this one I had never heard of but the reviews online look like it works for some kids!
- Consistency > stick with it and be consistent with your method
At the end of the day, every single child is different, so take it one day at a time. Sometimes the 3 day method turns into 4/5 days and sometimes they just aren’t ready yet – take a few days off and reset.
