Meet Caitlin Guevara and Stevee Martin, Co-Owners of Fit4Mom Charleston - Charleston Moms Network

Meet Caitlin Guevara and Stevee Martin, Co-Owners of Fit4Mom Charleston!  Caitlin and Stevee met at a Stroller Strides class in 2018 when their oldest children were both newborns, and have loved being part of each other’s motherhood journey ever since. They both went from clients to instructors to managers with Fit4Mom Charleston, and when the opportunity arose in August of 2021, they decided to work together officially as co owners! Since then, they have made focusing on the greater Charleston mom community a priority with free weekly play dates, monthly Moms’ Nights Out and book clubs, and quarterly charity work.  Read more below about their lives as business owners, and motherhood!

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Charleston, SC?
Caitlin – I grew up in Jacksonville, FL, before I joined the Navy. I got stationed in Charleston once from 2011-2012, and when I came back with my husband in 2017 we knew we wanted to put down roots!

Stevee – I am originally from Goldsboro, NC. I’ve lived in Charleston for 10 years this month! My husband is a Charleston native, and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere more beautiful.

Tell us about your family
Caitlin – My husband, Henry, and I have two children. Elena is 5 years old and loving kindergarten, and Sebastian is 3 and obsessed with his big sister. We also have a 6 year old Vizsla named Kava!

Stevee – My husband, Austin, and I have two sweet boys. Jack is 5 1/2 and Graham is 2 years old. They could NOT be more opposite. Jack is reserved, sweet, and cautious. Graham is wild, loud, and always getting into something. We also have a 6 year old Golden Retriever named Olive.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Caitlin – I have jumped off an aircraft carrier into the middle of the ocean!

Stevee – I used to sing in a traveling classic country music band. I also hung out with Taylor Swift on her tour bus back in 2007 (major Swiftie over here).

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Charleston?
Caitlin – we love our neighborhood, Park Circle, and how easy it is to walk to different events and fun place!

Stevee – I love how much there is to do! There’s always something going on, and so much of it is very kid friendly. Living close to the beach isn’t awful either.

Tell us about your business, Fit4Mom Charleston, and when & why you decided to start this business!
Caitlin – Fit4Mom Charleston is all about bringing the strength to every age and stage of motherhood! I started with Fit4Mom when I was pregnant with Elena in 2017 and have loved continuing to grow with this business. Stevee and I took ownership in August 2021 to make sure the community of moms could continue to foster those deep connections that make motherhood feel a bit lighter.

What is your favorite part about supporting Moms with fitness classes and wellness programs?
Caitlin – I love seeing a mom show her babies how much strength she’s gained! Nothing can beat the proud look on her face as she does one more rep than last week, or increases her weights and gets to share that with her sweet kiddos cheering her on!

Tell us about the different workout classes you offer, as we well as your Events and Playgroups.
Caitlin – Stroller Strides is our signature mommy and me workout – it’s an hour of cardio, strength, core, and lots of fun engagement between mom and her stroller aged kid! Stroller Barre strengthens your body from the inside out, working on posture, stability, and mobility, while still providing that connection from mom to baby. Strides 360 is a kid optional class that focuses on mom’s endurance, speed, and agility. Body Boost is a HIIT class focusing on cardio, strength, and core that is challenging while still empowering! BodyWell is our 8 week transformational program that incorporates small group workouts with accountability, nutritional guidance, and habit tracking.

How can a Mom sign up for your classes?
Caitlin – Visit the schedule on our website and find the perfect class for you, or message us for help getting scheduled! https://charleston.fit4mom.com/schedule

Tell us more about why you are both so passionate about the work/life balance within motherhood.
Caitlin – When both of my children were born, I was active duty in the Navy and overwhelmed with commitments on so many different fronts. I love being able to enjoy my community of mom friends while getting in a good workout, and helping to manage it all is so rewarding!

Stevee – Moms shouldn’t have to choose between having a career and spending more time with their children. One reason I am so passionate about Fit4Mom as a company is that it creates the perfect work/life balance for mothers. Not only do we get to do what we’re passionate about, but our children get a front row seat to see it happen. My children have grown up going to classes and watching me instruct. They’ve seen me at home working as a co-owner. They’ve gotten to see me play with them DURING classes. They’ve seen me be able to shut my laptop after an hour of work and go outside to play. Not having to choose between the two has meant the world to me.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?
Caitlin – My own mother – she’s still a teacher and loved helping us learn.

Stevee – My kids! Every time I look at them, I want to be the best version of myself. I know I’m far from the perfect mother, but when I see them happy, laughing, and loved, I know I’m doing something right.

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?
Caitlin – It really does take a village, get out and find yours early, and never let them go!

Stevee – I wish someone had told me how truly hard motherhood can be. You absolutely expect it to be challenging, but you don’t realize just HOW challenging it can be. You will lose parts of yourself, but you’ll gain even more. You’ll never understand how worth it it is until you’re in it despite the daily challenges.

What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?
Caitlin – Your kids don’t need you to be perfect, they just need YOU. So often we put this enormous pressure on ourselves to be Pinterest worthy at every opportunity – kids love magic, but they love their moms most of all.

Stevee – Leave your house and meet other moms. I went to my first Fit4Mom Charleston class when my oldest son was 4 weeks old, because I was so incredibly lonely at home with him. If I hadn’t of stepped out of my comfort zone that morning, I don’t know where I’d be today. Other moms make this motherhood journey so incredibly sweet.
